England

Documentary, Independent, Travel, 22-May-2025
Set on the shores of Margate, Sea Scrub Sauna is a coastal haven where tradition meets innovation. Founded by two cousins united by their love of cold water and heat therapy, this destination offers two distinct sauna experiences: a wood-fired barrel sauna with panoramic sea views and a modern cube sauna powered by electricity. Guests can alternate between the intense heat and the refreshing cold of the sea, just steps away.
Visitors enhance their sauna session with salt scrubs that open the pores, detox the skin, and release soothing aromas. This ritual, combined with ocean plunges, offers profound physical and mental rejuvenation.
Beyond wellness, Sea Scrub Sauna embodies the social spirit of the growing UK sauna movement. The founder, deeply involved in the British sauna society, emphasizes the importance of authentic sauna culture and the role of saunas in fostering connection. It's a place where strangers become companions through shared silence and conversation, welcoming everyone, even those who may be shy or socially isolated.
With the UK sauna scene blossoming, Sea Scrub Sauna stands as a model for what’s possible: an inclusive, therapeutic, and community-oriented space that connects people to both nature and each other, year-round.
