Documentary, Independent, Travel, 06-Aug-2025
In the stunning Sachteen territory 1 hour outside of Pemberton in British Columbia, next to Lillooet Lake, a profound journey of self-realization and connection unfolds.
This film documents the Expansive Man Transformational Retreat, a four-day gathering where men of all backgrounds are invited to explore the depths of healthy masculinity and the human condition. Guided by an experienced team, the participants create a safe space to be vulnerable, reconnect with their inner selves, Mother Nature, and foster a more supportive brotherhood.
The retreat is a powerful blend of ancient practices and modern self-development, featuring a range of activities from shadow work and breathwork to martial arts, qi gong, and primal movement. The men engage in a sweat lodge and a cord cutting ceremony, all while co-regulating into a deeper presence through the mirrors of each other and their connection to the earth. The film captures their journey of healing wounds, expanding their expression, and stepping into leadership, showing how they remember their own unique power, gifts, and responsibility as protectors, stewards, and guides in service to the world.
Beyond the physical activities, the film showcases the deep conversations and heartfelt vulnerability that form the core of the retreat. It captures men making genuine friendships, creating a supportive container, and engaging in naturism as a way to fully embrace the freedom and healing of the natural world.
The retreat offers a holistic experience where men are supported in every aspect. This profound journey leaves them with the tools and community to apply what they've learned to their daily lives, transforming and reinvigorating them to step into modern life with authenticity, and integrity.
