An hour outside Bandung, hosts Nisa and Amelia hike through forest to what locals still call Cibuni, Sundanese for a hidden or special place, now more commonly known as Rengganis Crater after Dewi Rengganis. At Sumber, a pilgrimage site where visitors come to pray, the spring called Si Jalatuna rises at 118 degrees Celsius, formed when Mount Patuha erupted. The water cools as it flows into mineral-rich mud used to treat skin conditions like rash and ringworm, and at Pancuran Lima, five spouts of varying temperature guide bathers through a sequence: soak, mud, steam, then a rinse in the private pools reserved for women.
